The MaF: The Archeological Museum of Florence

A bit off the tourist track but close to great institutions like the Accademia and the Ospedale degli Innocenti, the MaF– the Archeological Museum of Florence – exhibits in its halls extremely important finds from various eras and times.

You’ll be completely fascinated and bewitched by the Etruscan world and the reproduction of the Tarquinia Tomb. Experience the magic of the Egyptian collection, the second largest in Italy after that of the Turin museum. On the second floor, we’ll admire the Greek and Roman rooms with additions from the private collection of Lorenzo the Magnificent. Not to mention the museum’s recent extensions and enlarged displays – like the corridor which was used to move to the basilica of SS Annunziata.

We’ll see works like the mysterious and monstrous Chimera, Egyptian mummies, the stele representing the goddess Mat as well as the François crater and the Amazzoni sarcophagus. This tour will make young and old alike feel like budding Indiana Jones’ and the museum will simply take your breath away.
